How Does Anxiety Therapy Work?

Let’s begin to take a moment and stop the feeling of drowning.
Just for a moment, I want you to pause and let yourself begin to sense your feet on the ground. Wiggle your toes and even press your feet into the ground. You might notice a slight activation in your hamstrings and glutes.
As you begin to be with your feet, I now want you to track your breath. Try not to force or change your breath. I just want you to notice how your breath is showing up.
Moving your attention to the room you are in, I want you to begin to look around. Look side to side, up and down, and even behind you. What do you see? Now bring your attention to your feet, breath, and the room you are in. Let yourself settle and just be for a moment.
I’ll invite you to just notice what happened. What happened when you took a moment to ground and to be present? If it was uncomfortable, that is normal. If it was grounding, that is also normal.
The goal of this exercise was simply to help raise awareness of your thoughts and bring you into a more present state of mind and being. Anxiety therapy near me and anxiety counseling near me can help you work through whatever came up.
Let the empowering feeling of anxiety therapy take you from being dragged to moving forward.

Where You Are Now
- Constant fear of not doing enough: Feeling like no matter how much you achieve, it’s never sufficient.
- Restlessness and racing thoughts: Always thinking about the next task, unable to be present or relaxed.
- Difficulty delegating or trusting others: Taking on everything yourself because you believe others won’t do it “right.”
- Work as a form of avoidance: Using work to numb uncomfortable emotions or avoid confronting deeper issues.
- Guilt for taking breaks: Feeling guilty or unproductive when not working, even though you’re exhausted.
- Feeling disconnected from your values: Losing sight of what truly matters in life because you’re constantly chasing external success.
Where You’ll Be After EMDR Therapy
- Trusting that you are enough: Embracing the belief that your worth isn’t tied to constant productivity or external validation.
- Clarity and calmness in thought: Learning to quiet your mind and be more present, so you can focus and be present when you want to be.
- Confidence in delegating and letting go: Trusting others and knowing that letting go is okay and has nothing to do with you not being able, “to handle it all.”
- Balanced work-life integration: Understanding that breaks and rest make you more effective and help you confront emotional challenges with clarity.
- Permission to rest and recharge: Feeling empowered to take intentional breaks, knowing it contributes to long-term success and well-being.
- Aligning with your core values: Making decisions based on what truly matters to you—family, health, personal growth—rather than external pressures.

Frequently Asked Questions about EMDR in Ogden, Utah
How do I know if EMDR is working?
Great question! After you have moved through the first few phases of history taking and stabilization, attention will be directed to a negative image. Once an image has been discussed beliefs, emotions, and body sensations are explored. And thus, will begin the reprocessing phases. You will know if EMDR is working when a positive belief and statement have unfolded. This will let you know the issue is resolved.
Perk for all those homework haters. EMDR doesn’t come with homework in between sessions! Great news for people who thought homework was a drag, huh?
