Rediscover Happiness and Connection

I help high-achieving men break free from the grip of ‘blah’ and embrace a future where they have their souls back.

Depression doesn’t always look the way people think.

Depression therapy in Ogden, Utah

Many professional mid-life men are fulfilling their roles and responsibilities while coping with depression or burnout.

This can look like waking up every morning and feeling unhappy but going through the motions anyway. Showering, getting breakfast ready, going to work. Sometimes even going above and beyond and having a belief that when they get ‘there’ to the next accomplishment they will be happy.

From a distance, these men may look like they have it all together. Many have graduated from college, own a business, or have a great career, home life, and relationships.

And while they acknowledge all that they have, inside they feel empty, disconnected, sad and lost.

They may regularly get distracted with bouts of hard work and long days at the office, but most nights and weekends they just want to numb out and escape.

They wonder what’s “wrong” with them. Are they just burned out? Depressed? Or unable to find joy?

Here’s what I want men to know:

What you’re experiencing is normal.

There’s something going on in your body and mind that deserves your attention.

I’m sure you already know a million things you could do to feel better because you are resourceful. Exercise. Socialize. Meditate. We are inundated with self-care tips and tricks that only compound the shame if they don’t help.

Because when your body is in shutdown mode, it becomes physiologically inconceivable to do anything more than the bare minimum.

That’s what depression and burnout is. It’s your body trying to conserve energy.

In therapy, we can get to the root of why that is.

We can dig into past experiences that your body is still carrying, and clear the way for you to feel better.

Or, if you’d rather not look backward, we can focus on the future and find ways to introduce your brain and body to new tools and practices that feel doable — so you can find the energy to do more of what brings you joy.

Either way:

There is no reason to feel ashamed of how you’re coping with the way you feel.

I know your body and mind have a perfectly good reason for wanting to keep you safe and comfortable.

And there is a way to break the cycle of going through the motions, working really hard, and checking out from exhaustion.

I want you to have space to illuminate what’s going on and heal, so you can go from just managing what’s on your plate, to leading a fulfilling life.

Feel up to doing more than the minimum again.
